Thought I'd see what the "Does anyone know?" thread title was about.
I thought maybe somebody was up to something secret.....
I'm with Doc and BB on this one, nothing wrong with a properly tuned
carb as opposed to FI. FI probably increased the price of the 2008, huh?
I wouldn't doubt if it was a cost cutting measure for
Yami, it seems that most companies can make electronics (EFI) way cheaper than hardware (carburetors) these days.
There was a guy that recently came into the GM dealer with a restored 1985 Chevy Silverado and ordered a "brand-new" (not rebuilt) four barrel carburetor for his truck. The guy refused to install a rebuilt jobber carb.
My brother said that the cost of this brand-new, stock spec'd QuadraJet carb from GM was over $1700.00

My brother installedthe new carb, and the truck's owner was then charged $85.00 to have the carb installed and tuned.
Coulda put a used EFI system off a wrecked '87 Silverado for much less than the cost of that carb!
Then again, the carb will still work after the truck gets struck by lightning, EFI might not.
