Hello! My name is Vernon and I have only been riding for a little while. I have a very simple (probably too simple)question. How do you release the seat compartment to get to the battery? See my bad girl attached.

Turn the key counterclockwise without pushing it down. Sometimes you have to bump on the seat to help release the mechanism.

vernon, I had that problem,no matter what i did i couldnt get it to open , had to take mine back to the dealer where i bought it,they fixed it and it now works great. hope you get yours working.

Everytime I take mine off I wonder how long it is going to take to put it back on...Sometimes you just have to fool around with it.

Turn the key to the left but don't push down on the key. You might have to push down on the front of the seat at the same time.

Hello all, new member to the site. Looked around the site and so far it rocks. I just bought a 03 1600 Road Star this fall and love the bike! I have been riding for about 10 years now. Also just bought a 450 Nighthawk for my wife to start riding herself, once she becomes comfortable, I plan upgrading her to a V-Star.
