Stuck Valve 4 Years, 5 Months ago
|
|
|
Had the exhaust valve in my 2000 Roadie fixed back in July, and guess what, it stuck again! I went back to my dealer prepared for a serious run around and was totally suprised. The first thing the GM asked the service guys was how many have come in with this problem and he said several. He turned back to me and first thing he said was there is a problem here. Bring it to us and we'll do what it takes to get this fixed right. This is what I call taking care of your customers! They used factory parts the first time and are going to push Yamaha for a solution. I told him about this website and he is genuinely interested in seeing what your members are experiencing.

 Biker Scum!
You might want to talk to Law he is dealing with Stuck Valve ( SVS) but, Yamaha is giving him the run around. See the SVS victims post (don't know how to link it )
This is a great place to find out anything you might want to know about your roadie!

Good news. If it works out we need to give this dealer more business.

biker scum, (I mean that is a nice way ) e-mail me! I am having the same problem with an 06 100% stock bike. dealer did a valve job (they say) still not right. (bryan.law2@verizon.net) hold your dealer close, if he's telling the truth he is few and far between.

Kind of looks like we're caught between a rock and a hard spot here....we either refer to you by your chosen handle, biker scum or BS (short for biker scum). For now I guess it's Biker Scum...

Very unusual for a 2000 to get SVS and if you do it's not due to the valve train as it is for the 1700s. It happened to me at one time for a brief period of time when I was having plug problems.
I suspect you are jetted to rich and probably lugging the motor.
I also doubt that you will get any satisfaction from Yammi as it's not an issue with the 1600s.
BB gave you some good suggestions to clean it out. I would also recommend you check out your jetting.

Back in July when The dealer worked on it the first time I also asked them to rejet or at least check it for a rich condition. They rejetted and leaned it out some. I only run low octane, the plugs burn a nice tan color, ride it quite hard, (very small chicken strips on rear tire) take it off choke as soon as it will stay running, but I ride it to work daily about ten miles half of which is interstate. The dealer said he may be able to work with someome at Yamaha "off the record" but will get it straightened out at someones expense other than mine.
