passing lamps 4 Years, 5 Months ago  
my 1700 roadstar has 35w bulbs,can i change to 55w piaa or do i need to stay with stock bulbs

You can go to the 55 watt but keep in mind ..that is an extra 40 watts total draw on the electrical system...also hotter in the little pot too

I put in 55 watt bulbs and then added the RTB controller which added more light at the back...BUT stressed out even more the electrical system...on braking and running...

I have a little voltmeter on my bike and it was spending too much time in the below green zone ..especially at idle...

I put back my stock 35 watt bulbs...the volt meter dances in the green zone and I am more comfortable with that

The KURY tribar passing lamps I have came with 35 watt bulbs...and the stock is 35 watt IMHO that is where you should leave it...
as well.. the sealed beams used in the passing lamps are 35 watts
60 watt hi beam along with a 70 watt passing lamp total is plenty of light
