AIS Help 7 Years, 8 Months ago
|
|
I am going to attempt the AIS removal. In the Tech Tips I see two articles on the removal. One for 99-03 removal and one for 99-03 CA removal. Are these two different examples or does the CA one extend from the other? Or do I just follow the Ca removal instructions?
When in CA do as the ...... Well you know............
Thanks

The CA one is actually the SMOG cannister removal. Follow the AIS instructions, then move on to the CA SMOG removal for the whole shebang. Pretty easy, if you need soemone to talk you through it, let me know. Where are you located? Like your bike ... except the studs ... oh wait, with out the studs, your bike looks just like mine!

Post edited by: CRASH, at: 2004/09/17 20:07

Thanks.
Hey you got a nice bike too.
I should be getting my little luggage rack today like yours.
Live just outside of Stockton. Bout 50 miles south of Sac.
What kind of pipes are those?

Cobra Slash Cut Classics ... discontinued it seems. Great company tho .. had to spot weld a heat shield that broke a bracket mount ... didn't like the burn mark adn called them to see about buying a replacement. They sent me a replacement free. May actually cut the cans off and put on a bigger size for a deeper sound. The new Slash Cut Delux pipes have bigger cans (the same size as the slip ons on one of my guys VTX1800 - and the full pipes have the right size header pipes to make his slip ons fit perfect). Mine sound great, but when you get on it they rap WAY loud. I like the lines the Classics have instead of the Delux pipes, why I may mod these instead of buying new.
Luggage rack is a custom stainless steel job based on the Yamaha design. I run a fab shop and have 6 bikers working for me ... one of them had some 3/8" stainless rod scrap and decided I HAD to have this.
Live in Antioch, work in Rio Vista ... had dinner at Valley Brewery in Stockton with a friend tonight. Drop me an e-mail at crash@buddyboys.net, maybe we can hook up for a ride in the foothills.

Post edited by: CRASH, at: 2004/09/18 05:56

What ya gonna use for plugs, after AIS removal??
PIck up one of the plug kits, or going with Aluminum .45 Cal. casings??
Plugged my 03 with the casings..... looks pretty good too......
At least I've now got a conversation piece on my ride, that isn't the typical subject..
Ride Safe......

How far in do you push the 45 cal. casings (flush with the fins, with block wall, or....)? I'm about to do the ais remove' in a week or so because with my pipe modification it sometimes spits fire (looks cool at night but may not be good for the bike or the people behind me).
