Re:factory mufflers 4 Years, 5 Months ago
Hi guys,

Thought I would use this tread for my question, hope it’s OK.

I’ve installed V&H Classic on my Roadie a few years back and the only parts that got rusted badly are the chromed oval pieces fixed to the manifold with the two #11 nuts, especially the front one. I thought I could interchange them with the ones on my OEM exhaust that I kept (but I don’t know if they’re the same diameter) or I could buy new ones, does a company like Küryakyn sell parts like that? In order to take them off, must I disassemble the exhaust completely, can I just slip them out or what, is there a trick, what do I have to remove?

Appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks,

RG

Yes RG, you can use the originals, just take them off one at a time, and you will be good to go. You will need to pull the side covers to get to the rear ones, as it is a tight fit. All they are is a nut that goes on a stud with an allen head built on. Hope this helps. BB

Thanks BB,

You look like a very happy dude ridin on your bike!

It seems to me that in order to slip those pieces out, I will have to take the heat shields off, think it’s gonna implicate disassembling the whole exhaust.
