engine light 4 Years, 5 Months ago  
i took a ride today,befor i shut it down the engine light came on.after shut down i see a few drops of what ithink is gas . i let cool down then restarted it. also forgot to mention i reved the engine befor shuting down.after restarting all is back to normal . is thear somthing conected to the carb to make engine light to come on.this is a 1700 roadstar ,thanks for any help

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm guessing it was because you reved it up. If you let it idle down before shutting it off it probably won't happen again.

Reving before shut down. I havn't heard that for a while. I do know some used to do that on engines equiped with up draft carbs in the winter, ie snow blowers and the like. The idea was that if you chocked it and reved it before shut down you would trap gas in the carb for next start up. I never fully agreed with this but some of the old timmers would swear by it to this day. As always Muskey gave the best advise here let the idle stabilize before shut down. my penny dearman
