Santee exhausts 4 Years, 4 Months ago
Hello friends:

This is my first post after introduce me in General section. I have my '02 Wild Star since 3 weeks, I'm very happy with her and now I'm thinking to change OEM exhaust and put a new Santee's

I like this two models:

- Santee 2" Drag Pipes
- Santee Slash Cut Pipes

What do you know about this pipes? Are these a good exhausts or better I buy another ones of another manufacturer like Cobra, V&H, HK???

I'm thinking to change air filter for a K&N too. Do you think I have to reject too?? do you think I have to change main jet and pilot jet??

Thank you for all and sorry for my english

Greetings from Spain and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

They are loud and you'll notice a drop in torque.

You probably won't need to re-jet but may have to adjust the PMS.

What do you mean with "a drop in torque"?

Is much noticeable the diference of torque between OEM exhaust and Santee's or another aftermarket? This happens with all aftermarket exhausts?

I thought if you change pipes for a less restrictive ones, install an air filter that breathes better than stock and re-jet (if necessary); torque and HP was increased, not decreased

Now I'm confused

wow, another wild star rider in spain! iīm not alone!

firstly, the standard exhaust is not brilliant in power delivery due to being constructed to comply with emissions regs (by the way, if you want me to post in castillano, ask )

a less restictive exhaust does help, but drag pipes do tend to lose bottom end torque. an exhaust isnīt just letting the gas out, if designed properly it helps with the extraction of the gasses.

when the engine is running, there are a lot of things happening in the exhaust. one of the simplest explinations is that there are two pressure waves acting together, one positive that is in the direction of the exit of the pipe, the other negative which acts in the reverse direction towards the head. exhast design is about balancing those waves to get the maximum efficiency out of the pipe. someone can possibly explain it more in depth here, but itīs early morning and i need coffee before i start work

if you like the drag pipe look but want a system that works, have a look at the cobra speedsters. well made, good sounding pipes that work.

se nececites calquier cosa, o tienes dudas en este tema, da mi un toque en (0034)949 203859. estoy circa guadalajara

Ok, thank you very much erizo!!!

Finally I think that I'm going to buy the slash cut pipes, because I like the look of this pipes more than drag pipes.

What of these do you think are better? Santee or Cobra slash cut pipes? I don't know if there are much difference between both exhausts but Santee's are cheaper than Cobra (more or less 100$ of difference)

Thanks for all Doc, erizo and everybody here!!!

P.S: erizo, will you go to Benicassim next month for Llunatica bike show?

if you want slascuts, go for the speedster slashdown cobras (model 2821)
as they are FAR better than the santees. they cost more but are honestly worth it!

call XTRA s.l. down in valencia and say matthew sent you

llunatica? possibly, as the bloke who i built the chop for wants to enter the show. iīll see what happens as having a pregnant missus at the moment can put a spanner in the works as far as plans are concerned

The speedsters have also a connection chamber that helps in equalizing pressure between the two pipes.
I have a pair of cobra speedster longs, and I absolutely love them. Not too loud nor too quiet, they are very well made, and I feel no loss in performance.

Greetings from another wildstar fan from latin europe (Italy)!
