What do you mean with "a drop in torque"?
Is much noticeable the diference of torque between OEM exhaust and Santee's or another aftermarket? This happens with all aftermarket exhausts?
I thought if you change pipes for a less restrictive ones, install an air filter that breathes better than stock and re-jet (if necessary); torque and HP was increased, not decreased
Now I'm confused
wow, another wild star rider in spain! iīm not alone!
firstly, the standard exhaust is not brilliant in power delivery due to being constructed to comply with emissions regs (by the way, if you want me to post in castillano, ask

)
a less restictive exhaust does help, but drag pipes do tend to lose bottom end torque. an exhaust isnīt just letting the gas out, if designed properly it helps with the extraction of the gasses.
when the engine is running, there are a lot of things happening in the exhaust. one of the simplest explinations is that there are two pressure waves acting together, one positive that is in the direction of the exit of the pipe, the other negative which acts in the reverse direction towards the head. exhast design is about balancing those waves to get the maximum efficiency out of the pipe. someone can possibly explain it more in depth here, but itīs early morning and i need coffee before i start work
if you like the drag pipe look but want a system that works, have a look at the cobra speedsters. well made, good sounding pipes that work.
