roadhouse dooleys need more info 4 Years, 4 Months ago
i know they are a dual setup. one on each side of the bike. and the rear cylinder flows into both left and right sides. i seen some bikes with these pipes and heard the vid clip on you-tube. my thing do they increase performance or are they just for looks. I want to gain performance and have a nice rumble but nothing like my darn cobra drag pipes. the drag pipes are very loud since i lost the baffles. since im thinking of the bagger setup it would balance out the looks of the bike with the dooleys. Or i might go with the V&H long shots. witch ever sound the best and have nice performance gains. i know the V&H long shots are cheaper. just looking for others in sight on what would look better and sound better then other.

i am sure others will jump in with advice, but my first thought on the roadhouse's is are they "true duals?" a ridin buddy has a HD ultra-classic dresser, and he had his "y" pipe welded closed from the front cylinder on his pipes in order to obtain "true duals"

he had a cam installed and got porting or something done, but he was told his pipes needed to be "true dual" meaning each cylinder exhausted thru one pipe each for balance. it has something to do with performance.

i was told that if you go to a certain extent with performance mods, your pipes should be true duals and also be same in length; the staggered pipes. i aint plannin on reaching that extent, so my cobra speedsters are fine!

maybe some of the other more experienced guys can elaborate!

Hey speedy81304
I replaced my stock pipes with the Roadhouse dooleys. They sure helped my performance over the stock pipes. Not sure if they would help you with performance over your Cobra drag pipes though.
I have always been told a two into one will give more performance. I think that is Roadhouses thinking, better backpressure, and scavenging. The rear cylinder is supposed to put 60% of the exhaust through the right pipe, and 40% through the left pipe.
If you want true duals, check out Hacker Pipes True Duals.

I have been running Roadhouse dooleys for a year now and I am wondering if you can pull the y pipe off and weld it shut at the connection to the front pipe to make them true dooleys . The reason I am wondering is so many have to wait a long time for pipes because both companies seem to take orders then when they have a certain amount they make a production run so if you could Roadhouse was selling the pipes and Hacker was just taking orders you can you could buy Roadhouse and make your own true dooleys..and last time I looked Roadhouse was cheaper ...anyone know a reason why it cant be done???....Coug

Yup. There's a new owner. I don't know anything about how they're doing on production though.

the pipes are on back order no date when they will be ready. I'll have to wait untill spring and find out. i hope they are not like some other companys make the pipes when they get over 100 orders. then i would be waiting along time.

I think I read somewhere that they won't start making anything until at least February. Don't quote me on that though.
