Hey guys,
Name's Truman. 32 years old ex-military/ ex-security/ ex-excursions' guide in Mexico and DR and now catching my breath as Buyer in the Marketing industry. Born and raised in the cold backcountry of Quebec, Canada.
I found this forum a couple of weeks ago looking for info on Baron's Nostalgia bars and was very pleased not only to find what I was looking for but also an answer to the
carb-flooding (puking) problem I experienced once. This forum is awesome, you guys are doing a great job, I figured I'd join instead of just taking advantage of all your helpful tips and advice!
My dad rode (and cherished) a 2000 black & sand, stripped-down solo Silverado (V&H longshots,
Kury Hyper Pro, re-jetted, various aesthetic mods and chrome). He got the bike in 2006 and rode daily (on and off-season, as soon as the snow and sleet would let out).
Unfortunately he passed away last October and I now ride the Roadstar. He rode motorcycles my whole life and I always dreamed of one day riding along his side. I got my license last summer and rode with him only once, as he was very sick, when he escorted me with his Roadie(learners' permit) bringing back an old beat up '82 GS650 I'd bought to get some riding experience.
I know it may sound corny but I find I feel closest to him while riding, and as selfish as it may seem, I find riding "his" bike to ease the pain from his passing.
I might call on you guys in the near future for further helpful advice, as I'm looking to change the dragbars to Baron's Nostalgia (I'm 5'7" and the dragbars aren't too comfortable for me on long runs) and I'll need to re-install the leather bags as the R* will be my
main vehicle from now on, as soon as the snow and ice melt(55-mile commute, mornings & evenings).
Once again, good on ya for this forum. Oh, here's a pic of "dad's bike".
