Center Stand 4 Years, 4 Months ago
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a center stand for the Road Star. I think it would be a nice addition to the bike specially for maintenance, I see where they make them for the Harley Road King, I have asked around about this but cannot find one. Why don't they make them for these heavy bikes, I do not understand it. They have them on some of the smaller bikes that come factory installed.

My thoughts on it are why carry around the extra weight all the time? Just another thing to maintain that serves a limited purpose. And I could see it scraping on corners cuz they don't always stay up tight where they belong. It's easy to make a stand for a few bucks that will lift the bike for maintenance when you need it.

The problem lies with a bike that is low slung with a lot of weight. It's nearly inpossible to fit a center stand with enough mechanical advantage to flip it up without breaking your leg.

I've had several other bikes that had the center stand and always took them off! They add a consideralble amount of weight to the bike, and like others have said, the Road* is too low to the ground. I have an atv/motorcycle jack that I boaght at wal-mart for about $60 and it works wonderfully for maintenance and detailing. I have my frame marked under the bike so all I have to do is roll it under and jack it up, I don't even tie it down, the bike is stable enough that I have never had a problem with tipping over.

My old Guzzi has one and I love it!!! It's always bothered me that bikes don't come with them anymore. Makes maintenance and cleaning much easier. Besides, at night ya kick it down while riding so it scrapes the ground and it looks looks a Christmas tree behind you...
