I'm the proud owner of an '06 Roadie Silverado
that was left abandoned, in its crate, in the back of a dealers warehouse under a dozen or so Suzuki’s and Wave Runners!
Here’s what happened…
Last August, (’07) I rented an HD Heritage Soft-tail for a week, (I was disgusted every minute I was on it!)
I came home and begged my dealer for a new Silverado, (I was upgrading from a V-Star 1100…) He said that all four of his stores were dry, but they just bought a warehouse from another dealer and there was lots of “stuff” in it, Marty said I could go rummage through it if I wanted to… He wasn’t kidding! It was 25,000 Sq. Ft. of old and new wave runners, jet boats, ATVs, dirt bikes and bulk stock that the last dealer had collected for years! There was even a brand new ’01 V-Star “650”still in its crate! As I’m poking around near the back corner of this place, low and behold, over in a dark corner, in the back of this mess o’ crates, metal and plastic was my new Roadie… (It took two days to get to it!)
Down here in Middle Earth… Uh, I mean on Florida’s “Treasure Coast” (Half way between Jacksonville and the Keys, we have about 280 days of great riding weather! (360 with chaps and rain gear!)
So, if you’re in Daytona for Bike week in March, do yourselves a favor and drive South for about an hour and see what Florida “used to be”.
We’ve got a twenty mile stretch of undeveloped beach on highway A1A and 18 miles of Indian River Drive, a scenic road full of hoop-de-do’s and little twisties, (Just enough to keep it interesting…)
and a view of the ocean and river that can’t be found anywhere else in Florida.
