Re:Please introduce yourselves!! - Again 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Hi, I'm Nelson Wright and I live in Burlington NC. I have been riding for 4 year's. I started out with a Shadow ACE 750 and graduated up to the 2004 Midnight Star 3 year's ago. I have put 34,000 mile's on the R* since I got it. I retired 2 year's ago and love to take long trip's. Last year I made 1 trip to Ohio,Detroit and Houston. I have family in Ohio and TX so I had a place to lay my head at the end of the trip. I do most of the maintenance myself and appreciate this site for all the information provided.

My real name is Tom, I got my 1999 roadie when i grad from high school. it was given to me by my grandfather for passing school and staying out of real trouble. I have been riding motorcycles since i was 15,my first bike was a 1981 suzuki pe175 dirt bike, then i got into street bikes, had my first $25 honda CB200T forget the year, i cut the mufflers off played with the carbs till it ran good, father and grand father helped with tuning we rejetted it got it to run good for a little 200. i bobbed the fenders and took off the turn signals, when i was I worked for three summers to buy my first new bike. age 18 suzuki GSXR750, ins payments um lets say parents helped pay those at the time. then i got the roadie at 19. sold the GSXR in 2000, kept the roadie stock, didnt ride it much, in 2002 got another gsxr600, last sport i owned no longer streetbike drag only. now im at the age of the roadie being my main ride, im 27 yrs old now, i love the old school looks and that v-twin sound. have had plans for it but my little lady and my family dont want me chopping at it and making a bar hopper out of it. so im still going to turn it into that old school retro classic cruiser, still using the factory silverado stuff, but chaning to the taller yamaha windsheild and switching to a much larger saddle bag, adding cobra freeway bars, yamaha passing lamps, saddle bar crash bars, going to add some chrome and alittle bit more performance. looking at roadhouse dooleys but might make my own with dooley slip-ons. more on this to come as i work out my plans.

Stay safe overseas. I can ride you bike while you're away.

I'd like to see more of your graphics.

Hmmmm .... 3 years to find this site. I hope you have a GPS on your long trips.

So how far is Burlington from Asheville?

... Tom

Hope you gave grandpa a big hug, sounds like a great guy.

If you're going to mod the bike (which it sounds like you eventually will), make sure you have a finished plan in mind as it gets expensive changing directions in mid-build.

Good luck,

Doc

Geez. Most people start out saying they are going to leave the bike stock. They don't start talking mods for at least a week. Sounds like you're going to have fun with it.

Hey Gene, sorry you will be missing your Baby. She will be waiting for you when you get back. Thank You for doing what you do. It's people like you who make me proud to be an American. If you need some e-mails while you are deployed, I'll be glad to keep you updated on the events back home or pictures of my riding season. Let me know. Stay Safe. Kick Ass. Come Home.

Raider Joe.
