Would you buy tires over the Internet? 4 Years, 3 Months ago
I have found some pretty good prices on ME 880's on some websites, but am feeling skeptical about trusting the quality of them. A guy told me yesterday to expect a 50/50 chance of getting seconds or blems from the lower priced websites.

The prices are all over the place. Some higher than the stealer quoted me. I'm wondering if should just take the easy (and pricey) way and order them thru the stealer. I need tires pretty badly and am worried about putting second rate quality on the R*.

Or, am I just over-thinking...again?

I don't take chances with tires. They're pretty important to avoiding pain. I wouldn't pay more than the dealer quoted but I wouldn't go bargain basement either. I want to see the tires I'm buying but that's just my feelings on it. Wait a while and someone will completely disagree with me.

I may have to agree with Musky. Just don't know if the others (dealer) are that high or is there something wrong with the ones on the net. We need to hear from members who have bought through a web site & know about some of the company's ..

I've never bought tires on the net or ordered them myself, I have always let the dealer get them for me. I asked my dealer if they could install a tire that I brought to them (orded myself) and they said they would install it but they would charge labor. If I ordered the tire through them the labor was free! So I just orded from the dealer........The dealer also helped me out! The first set of tires he ordered for me had a bad rear tire! It just would not balance right, so he ordered another one and it was perfect! So that tells me even the dealers may get a bad tire every now and then, but hopefully you have a good dealer like mine that will help you!

I ordered my Metzler ME880 rear tire online for about $120 from http://www.tiresunlimited.com/motorcycle_tires.htm. My dealer mounted and balanced it for me, no problem. The tire arrived in about 3 days, had factory stickers on it and blueing on the white wall. Great experience for me.

I buy alot of stuff on the internet for the bike, but I think tires I would go to a dealer. I want to see them, make sure they are "fresh" plus I dont want the hassle of changing them. JMO

I would.

As with anything you buy on the net, ensure that the seller has a perfect history or reputation.

Bought all my tires off the internet. No complaints from me I got two full sets and another rear so I won't have to buy tires for a while. Do what make you comfortable. Then can ride without worry.
