Front disc cover removal 4 Years, 3 Months ago
I removed the chrome covers that cover the center of the brake disc, front tire. I like the look of the open disc. My question is, on the left side, the chrome cover has a weighted donut around the axle hole. Could someone tell what it is for? Tire balance? Is it OK to remove it? Will it pull to the one side with it removed?
2002, Stock spoke rims
I'd take it for a ride, but it's been raining all day.

My Clymer manual calls it an "Insulator pad" for laced wheels.
It doesn't say what it is for.
Anyone know if I can run without it?

It's a harmonic damper. The front tends to make a noise but with my bad hearing I never did hear anything.
