odometer reset 7 Years, 8 Months ago
I have a 2001 Midnight Star with speedometer and gas guage problems. Sometimes when going 70 ,mph it will register 40 mph or when going 10mph it will register 30. As for the gas guage some times it does not work at all. At times, they will not even conduct the preliminary speedo/gas sweep check when I start the bike. I'm looking into getting another assembly but I'm not sure how I will be able to get my old mileage readinng onto the new assembly. If I buy it new, can I have Yamaha program it with my old reading? And if I decide to buy a used one, does the actual bike remember the milage or is it the assembly that remembers the milage? (Will I inherit the old odometer reeading)? ANY help is none the less help, thanks.

Post edited by: bikermike, at: 2004/09/29 15:54

the odometer is what remembers the milage, However I'm not sure if the can be
burned by a dealer for a correct reading or not. I'd call Joe at A-1 or Randy at Yamaha sports
center.
If you buy a used one you get that milage, also remember the midnite odo is different than the others
