Just fix the air leak then and see what happens before you do anything else unless you just want to port the manifold while it is off.

An air leak can really screw the running up. It's a good thing you found it. Trying to jet around an airleak can really put a damper on the fun.

It's not hard just takes time if you have a drill press and some small size sanding drum and/or a dranel too you can do it.

Mine always coughed out the carb & I couldn't ajust to fix it. I just tore of the heads for sticking valves & I have carbon build-up on the heads & on the piston from being too rich.
I was totaly surprise to see 2 sticking intake valves & a mess of build up in the intake port & the back of the intake valves. The worst one was on the front cylinder.

I had the intake leak fixed by the dealer which was covered by the ext. Warranty, while they had it off they notice the black cover on the top of the carb was wraped and was not sealing causing another air leak, the black cover does not have a part number, they called me and told me i had to get a new carb because that part is not sold buy it self.
Now i ma thinging thats going to cust a lot! to my suprise it is covered by my ext. warranty.
I will you a update when i get it done.

Update
HAd the air leak fixed on the intake and the carb was replaced under warranty because of the bad black cap on top.
When i picked up the bike it ran great except for when starting out it would backfire out of the carb, got home and turned the Accelerator Pump screw in a 1/4 turn locked it down tested it and back fire was gone, took it out for a 80 mile trip no more coughs at med throttle it ran very strong thru all the revs.
I learned a lession always take the time and check for airleaks before you start trying to fix a jet problem.
Also check the black cab on top of carb make sure it is not warped that was one of my airleaks,
Thanks for all the help
