Hey trexmgd you can do that job. The hardest part I found on my 06 was
getting those japanese phillips head screws out. The jugs are easy.
If I remember I took the fuel pump loose and just moved it out of the way
didn't even unhook it.

I did the same with the fuel pump. just took out the two ten mm screws and let it hang. I stripped one of those japanese philips head screws though and had to use a screw extractor, that was fun.

It is sunny today musky, think I might sneak out for a few miles to make sure the bike running ok. Then I can attempt the fuel pump relocation later this week. One thing I learned on this site is to do one thing at a time!

I am sure that the answer to this question has already been posted on the forum, but is it necessary to completely remove the AIS? Couldn't it just be disabled by putting a solid 'stint' in the tubes leading to the intake on the head? I know asthetically it would be best to completely remove it (as someone said, it is 'fugly'. I do want to eliminate the annoying 'backfire' on decel, but am also wanting to keep all the stock parts in place for now.

Yes you could do that....and

I would also plug the vacuum line going to the top of the intake manifold...

Thanks. It is very stock. Former owner put a lot of chrome on her (my kids named it Charlotte!). Obvious need for some mechanical upgrades. Throttle 'flattens out' due to the float bowl running dry. I have plans, but the wife took my CC away. Gonna start by doing the little things.

Try turning the PMS out 1/4 turn at a time.
