Alright guys I've got a couple of questions about the silverado passing lamps. I have seen several bikes on the highway and their lamps "flash." Now I don't know what kinda bikes those are, but I have been told that there are aftermarket accessories out there that can enable the lamps on the road star to "flash."

I think this is a very realistic saftey feature, and would like to pursue it. I have been told that there is a company that makes a device with a sensor that lets the lamps flash during the day, but keeps them steady at night. Anybody have any experience with this?

Does anybody have any additional info about this topic?? Price, difficulty of installation, will the road star's electrical system support it, who makes them, etc.

Any help would be great!!

Don't know for sure on the passing lamps but here is a headlight modulator. I think you could wire it to your passing lamps too and modulate your headlight and passing lamps.

KISAN Technologies makes a modulator for headlights where you pull the plug off the headlight; plug their unit to the headlight and plug the harness to their unit. There is also a wire with a light sensor that has to be mounted.

Signal Dynamics has a unit that requires cutting and splicing to wire into the system. No reason why it couldnt be wired to passing lights instesd of the headlight.

Here's the kit that I bought and installed. Street legal in all 50 states plus Canada. Less than $100 for both headlight and brake light device.

Easy, quick and works like a charm. The headlight install was "plug and play". The only effort that is required is pulling the zip tie to secure the daylight sensor to the outside of the bike. The brake light install was easy as well. The hardest part about that was locating the correct wire to splice into. The unit fits under my seat alongside the tool kit.

I bought the combo that modulates the headlight and also has a unit that will cause your brake to flash repeatedly and then remain on. Here's the link:

Hey Mark7 sounds like you're all over it man!! What about the passing lamps?? I would rather they flash also!

Also, if i purchase one with the daylight sensor...can it be turned off during the day? i am most certain that would become rather annoying to any riders in front of me when group riding!!

I have the Signal Dynamics modulator on mine, and all you need to do to turn off the flashing is to go from HI to low and back to Hi (or the other way) within two seconds and it shuts down the modulating. You can wire the headlight, passing lights or all 3 together to flash as long as they don't exceed 130 watts. Waht's really cool is that I also have the horn connected to it so if I hit the horn, the headlight will flash for two seconds to get their attention. (in case someone was about to pull out in front of you.)

I'm sure you can somehow wire up the passing lamps to modulate with the headlamp, but I never thought of doing that. Since the unit I have only works on hi-beams, to stop the modulation means simply flicking to low beams. I've ridden in several group rides and never had anyone seem annoyed about the modulation. It also stops in tunnels and such since there isn't enough light hitting the sensor to trigger it into action.
