Rain 4 Years, 2 Months ago
Got caught in several rain storms this summer, engine just slowed to a stop as if it were out of gas(not the problem.) Local dealers said they've never heard of this. It's a stock '06 Silverado not sure if it's electrical but could use some help.

Yes , more info is needed. Does it turn over but just not "catch", or what does it do? BB

100% stock, it will restart but acts as if it isn't getting fuel. I can bring the idle up slowly and put it in gear but when I give it more gas it dies again.

You may have some water in the carb float chamber (bowl).

Underneath the bowl there is a little bolt. Loosen the bolt and let it drain a bit into a can.

You may want to check the boot that mounts the air cleaner to the intake. Philips screw on the top may be very loose allowing the rain to get into the air fuel mixture. just a thought.

I have the K&N exposed filter with the chrome cover and i never got caught in the rain with it yet. But when i do, will it suck in water and cause a problem? only bought the bike last fall.

Mostly any problems caused by rain is when the bike is parked in it without having the filter covered. A shower cap works good for that. If your riding you have to be in a real heavy rain to cause trouble. I rode through some pretty good rain with no trouble. Never wanted to stop to put the raincoat on. Now I just leave it on all the time.
