Question for GRAM 5 Years, 11 Months ago
Gram, what have you done to your bike in terms of lowering and raking and streching? I asked doc the same thing, I'm about to tear my bike completely down for paint and while I'm at it I'm thinking about lowering the rear and doing a strech and rake, I'm trying to find a reliable method that will maintain a quality ride so I'm trying to find out as much info on it from anyone I can, you two are the only ones that I've seen "chopped" in your sig pics, but if anyone else has info on this sort of thing I'd love to have it, thanks again

No stretch, No rise.

Mine is raked at the neck 8 degrees, trees are stock.

Neck was lowered one inch to get it level with the rear, which is flipped.

Its real low, and speedbumps can be a litt bit of a problem.

I wanted to keep the stock trees and forks, this turned out to be the best way to do it. With 40 degrees of rake (stock 32 + 8 more) it has a fairly large trail figure, but still within acceptable range.

As is, it takes some muscle to control at parking lot speeds, but is more stable than stock at speeds greater than about 15 to twenty miles per hour.

I had a local guy do the work and he did a great job. He did all of the metal work (fenders, tank etc...).

Now you can buy frames for Road Star's made to order from a few different sources. At the time, that was the only option I could find.

In the latest V Twin Magazine there is a chopped R*. I don't have it in front of me but I think the guy sells the frames. Something to check out anyway.
