Motor dies @ stop signs 5 Years, 10 Months ago

Ok, I've had the bike for three ridding seasons and no problems. The bike has a ported intake, hard chrome pipes, rejetted carb, AIS removed, fuel pump relocated under seat modifications. All work was done two years ago by the same shop that I purchased the bike (new) from. This year I have a big problem because the bike dies or tries to die after approaching a stop sign or any type of traffic delay. I know this has nothing to do with stop signs and traffic. What happens is that the bike will start fine and idle with no problem. I can even advance the throttle and let it snap back to closed position without any signs of a problem. Once I get on the bike and ride the problem starts. Doesn’t matter what the outside temp is or the time of day. I pull out of the drive way no issue. I advance into 2nd gear and maintain that rpm for a short 100’ and then it happens the engine seems to be running out of fuel. This has been getting worse since I first noticed it. My local shop has changed the plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump and all fuel lines. There are no pinched fuel lines and I have not changed my storage or riding habits over the years.
Please help me. The ridding season in Chicago area is too short for this!
Thanks for your time,
KW

Did you or the shop check the tank vent and line. It might be plugged or kinked. I

You might want to check the venting on your gas tank. A friend was having a similar problem to yours and fixed it by drilling a larger hole in the vent tube for the gas tank. Another thing you might look at is the float level. Those are the only things I can think of that you haven't mentioned checking already. Sounds like it's definitely a fuel delivery problem of some sort.

Looks like Musky and I were typing at the same time about the tank vent! One other thing I thought of is there's a fuel strainer at the fuel input to the carburetor. If it were clogged up, it could slow down fuel delivery and cause the symptoms you were describing. Good luck getting things sorted out!

KW, as you approach the stop, do you just roll up to it or are you throttling your bike? Do you know what your carb settings are?

Not sure what the carb settings are because I paid my shop to do all the upgrades a few years ago. When I approached the traffic or stop sign I can hear the motor about to quit so I apply rapid throttle twist in order to keep the motor from completely shutting down. Sometimes I don't catch it in time and I just release the clutch in order to re-fire the motor (bump start).

Finding out your settings/jets is fairly easy. If you are mechanically inclined, then you can remove your air cleaner, remove the float bowl and see what jets were installed in the carb. Your PMS setting involves turning in the PMS screw and counting complete revolutions until lightly seated, that way you have a reference to go back or to start your adjustment. I would remove the carb completely and clean it thoroughly then reinstall to begin with any adjustments if needed.
