slider's intro 8 Months ago
After almost thirty years, I'm back in the saddle. Recently purchased an '03 Silverado and after weeks of reactivating dormant brain cells, finally am somewhat comfortable on the road. The Star is by far the largest bike I have ever ridden, so the transition was quite a learning experience. I live in south Texas, near Corpus Christi, where the land is flat and the wind blows steadily off the Gulf of Mexico, gusting this time of year to 40 MPH - makes riding interesting depending on your orientation to the wind.
I am prepping for the first ride of significance since getting remounted, this one toward Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky Missouri then back home. Five guys are (currently) enlisted and our ride begins early April with plans for nine days on the road. Most of these guys have made dozens of these trips, so I'm picking their brains for tips, purchasing new gear (off the net, so I'm being very trusting that the products are going to be able to stand up to at least this one trip).
I am self employed as a remodel contractor, have been for years, and trying to retire - although my customers don't seem to be taking that idea seriously. I have cut my work week down so I can enjoy some time with my four grandchildren.
I am certainly pleased to have found this clinic and have enjoyed the forums, although it will take some time for me to "screw my courage to the sticking place" and offer some input.

Slider, welcome aboard, you will love the bike and have a great time on the road. Your trip sounds like alot of fun. Take some warm clothes. when you get to up to Kentucky it can still be pretty cool in April. Good luck!

Congrats on getting back in the saddle There is a tranny recall on your bike. Give a dealer or Yami cust service your VIN and they can tell you if it's been done.

Another Texan ... how did that happen .... I though we had our quota filled.

Thanks for the intro. I hope you enjoy the bike and you upcoming tour. After the ride you may be cutting down your work week substantially.

Hey Slider welcome back into the wind and also to the clinic. Great place to ride down there, I lived in San Antonio for several years before I left the USAF. After this Maine winter I wish I was back down there. Hell we could go see if we could con CURT out of some of DOC's beer Dearman
