Greetings Brothers and Sisters!
Charlie Deckert here in Austin TX. Recently picked up a 99 Road Star Silverado. I have been riding since 1972. Currently riding a self bobbed Honda Magna and now the Road Star. Previous bikes include 2 V65s and a GSXR1100. I do nearly all of my own wrenching and I gotta say this site is awesome for people like me (broke).
The bike I bought has had nearly every mod I can find done to it. Pipes, Intake Port, Air filter, Goldwing suspension, Harley Fairing, Harley Bags, Trailer Hitch, Handlebars, Rear tire, Fuel Pump removal, vented cap, idle adjustment etc..who knows what else. I have found a couple of things I can do though to put my mark on this bike.
Part of why I bought this bike and not the Heritage Softail I was looking at was, performance, dependability and price. Plus the guy who had it did pretty much everything I would have done to it. I got it for a fraction of the cost of the HD and when comparing HP
, Torque, and overall cost of ownership I just had to go with the RS
. I have put about 600 miles on the bike in the last couple of weeks, riding everyday to work and short rides on weekends. This is the largest CC
bike I have ever owned, so far I am loving it.
If your in Central Texas and like to ride allot let me know as you know there is some real nice riding year round here in the CTX region.
