I have bulbs made by PIAA that are 60/55 watts for the H4 but put out light equal to 135/125 watts. The H3's are 35 watt with 70 watt light output. They light up the world!
Unless you have a high output stator you need to be careful not to overpower the alternator.
Clifford
I have 55's in my RS 01 passing lights and my stock alternator does fine with them. 35's are impossible to find here.

On my FJ1200 I installed TRUE HID lamp in the stock headlight. The lamp style was H4 and only consumed 35 watts. That light was extremely bright blue/white.(6000K temperature) I bought them off of eBay for about $45.00 dollars. When I sold the bike I took the HID system off and returned it back to stock. I have not had the chance to install them on my R* as of yet. Too busy, enjoying myself riding. Some disreputable companies are try to sell Xenon filled incandescent bulbs and are calling them HID. You get the light color but not the enhanced light output. True HID requires a ballast circuit to boost the 12 volts up to 20,000 volts or higher. That's why they cost so much. The prices have really dropped since I bought mine. But they are worth every nickle, and they do actually help you see better in bad weather.

Working in the automotive retail side i have seen more than a few people come in with fried headlamp connectors. Mainly from the silver stars, they do draw more power and can over heat those plug ins. May not happen to everyone, but it does happen, just a friendly fyi.

I haven't gotten to put one on my Roadstar just yet, as someone else said "too busy riding", but I can testify to the value of true HID lighting. I installed a McCulloch HID on my Hayabusa and it REALLY brightened things up. I will have no qualms about putting one on the Roadstar when I get the time. It will definitely be my next purchase. The HID I installed on the 'Busa DRAMATICALLY outshined even the "bright" setting on the the default Busa bulb.

You will want to look for a H4 bulb to fit the R*. Just research what is available in the H4.

That McCulloch site is confusing...
I clicked on the 6000K and the information listed under is kind of confusing
McCulloch 6000K H4 Bi-Xenon HID Conversion Kit
The McCulloch 5000K HID Conversion Kit offers the greatest amount of visibility. This kit features Digital HID Ballasts to prevent any interference of radio waves and other electronic devices. The 5000K kit is for the driver looking to maximize light output on the road. With a luminosity of approximately 3200, it is enough to triple the light output of halogen bulbs. The 5000K kit is bright white which might produce a slight yellowish hue depending on the optics of the headlights. If you are interested in something without any yellow - we recommend a 6000K kit instead.
HID Kit includes:
* 2 McCulloch HID Bulbs
* 2 McCulloch Digital Ballasts with built-in Igniters
* 2 Ballast Brackets
* 2 Double sided 3M tape for ballast installation
* 2 Bulb Size Specific Matting Connectors (Allows 100% plug and play connection)
* Zip ties & Instruction manual
* 2 Wiring Harnesses with Fuses & Relays (Optional)
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a Single Beam HID Kit. If you are purchasing this product in bulb size 9004, 9007, H4/9003 or H13/9008 you will lose the ability to use the high beam function on your vehicle. In order to preserve the high beam you will need to purchase a Bi-Xenon HID Kit which will allow for HID lighting in the Low as well as the High Beam.
WARRANTY & RETURNS:
This product comes with a full 2 year warranty which comes all the parts and items that come with the HID Kit. This includes but is not limited to bulbs, ballasts, wiring, matting connectors and relays. In case of any issues we will troubleshoot the problem and work with you to replace any defective parts to minimize down time. Please see our warranty page for complete details.
We stand 110% behind all of the products that we sell. We never charge any restocking fees and give you 7 days to return the item for a FULL REFUND. Your only cost is $10 for shipping the item back. This means there is no risk in doing business with us - if you aren’t happy with the product, just return it for a full refund of your purchase price.

FOUND IT!
You can buy it here. The price is $200 and you will want the H4 Bi-Xenon KIT.
Now I haven't tried it out on the Roadie yet so I don't know how well it will work but that is the one I bought for the busa and loved it. Fitment, I am not so sure of for the RS.
I think I am going to buy it.
You can read up on the different temps here: http://www.ultrabrightlights.com/t-hidordering.aspx
I chose 8,000 and was happy with it. It was a little bit of a blue-ish tinged light.

One thing I've notice is these sites do not list the wattage or current usage of their complete kits. Since I own an 01, I'm a little concerned about how much I add to my little out-put alternator.
