Hi everyone. I recently purchased an 1600 2003 midnight star with the silverado package and when I bought it, it was running badly. Lots of backfiring, hesitating, and it felt like it was starving for fuel. Being that I am mechanically inclined but don't know much about motorcycle engines I started reading. Thank god for this site. After making a lot of carburetor adjustments, my scoot is running like a charm and I have restored the power and sound I knew it was supposed to have. My pms had been adjusted to 1 1/2 turns from the seated position and so it was running incredibly lean. It was so cold natured that I dreaded taking the time to get it started before I went for a ride or got back on it after stopping somewhere. Yes thank you Musky. I actually saw that on thsi site and called yamaha with my VIN number to see if it had been done. It was done in 05 and at the same time it had a bigger cam installed.
