Since I have been asking questions since I recentally joined the Road Star Clinic, I thought it would be nice to introduce myself. My name is Brent and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am a pastoral intern with my local church (hence the clinic name) and I am married with a eight month old daughter. I am a veteran of the Air Force where I did Imagery Intelligence work for both Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Currently I am the very proud owner of a 2006 Roadstar that is painted liquid silver and sapphire blue (it has the white walls with spoke rims). I really love this bike! Before this I was riding a Honda Shadow ACE 750 and sold it due to the need for a "bigger" bike. I went without a bike for nearly a month as I test drove everything that I could get my leg over in order to find that "perfect" bike. I almost bought a Harley but the price tag and breakdown stories I heard kept me from making the purchase - although I did come close. One day I stopped at my local Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha dealer where after telling him of my "ideal" bike he immediately walked over to the Roadstar and said "sit on this." I test rode one the next day and well... the rest is history.
My Mods include:
- Bub Jug Hugger exhaust
-Baron BAK with Baron rejet kit installed
-Crankcase breather hose rerouted with chrome filter
-Baron AIS removal
Grace and Peace,
Brent

Guess it's bout time I formally say hey to the you all. My name is Daniel Stevens and my wife Wendy and I live outside of atlanta,Ga. We both ride on a daily basis due to weather non-issues here in the south. I just got an 06 R* 2 weeks ago and am loving the thing. So far I've just done a few changes ; roadhouse 2into1, jet kit, K&N stock replacement, but more mods are coming. My forwards are on the way, as is a corbin stinger seat, tee-bars, and now I'm really thinking about that nemesis manifold. Oh well, guess the fun never stops. I'm looking forward to working with you.Dan

bikepastor,
Eventually we will have to hook up for a ride. I am from Livonia, MI and even though you're on the other side of the state, 3-8 hours is a typical ride day for me. Favorite ride right now is Michigan Ave out through the Irish Hills. Nice roads, Multi Bike Dealer, Good Bar, Great Leather Store, yada, yada, yada

TMK, thanks for the welcome. Wendy has her own bike, a 2005 Honda shadow spirit 750, that we bought new for her 2 yrs ago. She has already racked 30,000 miles on it. She and I ride everywhere we can.

Thanks everyone for the greetings! I just back from about a thirty five mile ride testing out my new starbar from Baron's (really comfortable), wish I have gone longer but I told my wife I would be back soon. I pulled up to a light while out and there was a couple on a Harley next me; looking over I noticed a CMA patch on the woman's jackets and told them I liked her patch. Suddenly we were talking and they invited me out to ride with them next Tuesday - this is why I love riding. It seems that you meet so many different people riding different bikes but we all hold the same LOVE of riding. That feel of the bike beneath you, the wind moving around you, and the road up ahead - it's almost unexplainable. Maybe it sound corny but I just love the fact that I can pull up to someone at a stop sign and instantly we have a common bond. I love riding!
Grace and Peace

JJ-
No, the starbar mounted up with all the orginial cables and wiring. The only thing that kind of sucks is that on the stock handlebar there are little welded on tabs that the your stock cables attach to via black plastic tips - those are not on the starbar. This causes the black wrapped wire to hang a bit, I tie strapped my ingition cables and break cables together. I thought about running the black wires inside the bar but I don't know how to get them inside the bar without looking really weird. Originally I thought I would run them up through the risers and then drill into the bar but there is a bolt running through the center of the risers so that didn't really work out that well for me.
The starbar does take a bit getting use to as I was familiar with the stock bar, but it is more comfortable especially with my ISO Flame grips installed. Oh yeah, this bar does not have end weights so unless you use grips with end weights attached (I did not) you'll feel a bit more vibration. It did not bother me, matter-of-fact I can barely notice it. Afterall, a bit of vibration is cool!
Grace and Peace,
BP
