SS custom gas tank 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Is anyone using this tank? My concerns are that the fuel capacity has been reduced by a little over a gallon, and the price. But the price is okay if it's a good product. My main concern is the lower fuel capacity.

The other option I have is of course to stretch the tank I have, which I might just do instead.

Thats a nice lookin tank Rip, the price made my heart skip tho..personally, I couldn't deal with the lesser amount of fuel, as it is, I find myself wanting a gallon more..not less..I probably would extend the one I have..but ya gotta do what you want.. I still want to see that springer front end...

Relax, I'll get it on there. I think I'm gonna rake my frame out 6deg when I put that bad boy on. I like the tank but the loss of fuel is bothering me.

And if you guys want to put together a front end fund raiser for me that'll be great! I'll do whatever you guys want! Already figured it out, 150ppl donate $10ea front end on in a week! j/k but um... yeah...

I called SS Custom a couple of months ago. Yes, you will be loosing gas capacity. Also, I really don't see a justification for the price.
In my opinion, BMS, Stage 3 has the best option. My only concern with Stage 3 is, will there be a problem removing the speedo and sealing the tank. I don't want an issue where you can see where the speedo was removed or that the top isn't smooth.

I sent BMS an e-mail regading it--the only response that I got back is that it takes 3 weeks to do the job.

BMS will do a good job but even they cost a lot. I have a friend that's gonna do the work for cheap, and he'll use sheet metal not fiberglass. I'm thinking that the tank stretch will be the best idea, and I'll run a Dakota Digital speedo to replace the stock one. And if you contact them they will set the new odometer to match your old one at no charge.

its takes 2 to 3 weeks tops they use sheet metal not fiberglass . You get what you pay for
there quality it top of the line work and all the work is guarenteed you can have the end of the tank made to end in a V U straight etc for that price. Stage 3 is the most costly but you can do a stage one stretch for less . SS customs is garbage. Shane i think his name is. Is a true piece of shxx ask any of the people that work for him or just go off the builds.
