I just checked my float with a clear tube it was about 1/4" above the parting seam
I know it is high per the spec. but will it hurt to be that high?
It doesn't leak through the carb. Does it effect the Idle or anything

Hey RSL

It can affect everything about the fuel delivery. From wasting gas to bad running. You can most likely jet around it to make it seem like it isn't an issue but it is and will be until it's adjusted. The best thing to do is set it to where it should be. It's just like any other part. For the bike to run right and safely things to need to be correct.

Although most folks should set the float level to spec you can get a bit of performance increase by raising or lowering the float level over the stock position.

In this case, the main jet and needle must be tuned first. Then by observing the midrange preformance you can tweak the float level to squeeze that extra out. Takes time ... and patience.
