That's why I was asking. I am friends with the owner of Psycho Seats here in El Paso and he can make me a custom seat but I'm trying to get the best of both works, good looks AND comfort. The seat I have, believe it or not, hurts after 25-30mi and I hate it. I need to find the seat I want before I do the stretch in the tank this winter.

I love the frame so I'm gonna call the guy tomorrow and see how soon he can start cutting. You didn't give me a good reason not to go with a single down tube so I'm gonna go for it!

The other seats I was looking at were the Dragger Seats by the vendor in this forum.

Good luck, this kind of customizing is a long road but a lot of fun.

Have you figured out where to put the rectifier?

You were a neighbor

I have heard of a couple of guys putting the rectifier in the area behind the seat between the rear splash guards and the frame, but I haven't actually seen that did it that way. I think Britt's motorsport did that on some of their serious customs.

I can't help much on that one, I left mine in the stock location. At the time I didn't know anyone who had moved one and assumed it was there for the cooling stream from the front of the bike. If I had known different, this bike might have been single down tube. that would have been a nice look.

I'll check that out tomorrow, and if I like I'll move it preemptively this weekend. What exactly does the rectifier do? And it doesn't need direct cooling?

I WAS a neighbor, I moved away to join the service and came here to Texas when I got out. Besides, I can't deal with the guns laws there lol. My wife and I will be going out there in Aug to visit my Grandmother. I had the option of seeing her or going to Sturgis. I love my Grandmother.

It seems you and I have traded places. I was in Little Rock, AR when I built this bike. Had to come home sooner or later, so here I am.

The rectifier changes the voltage coming from the stator into 12v DC. It does need cooling, but from what I hear (not an expert on this) not the amount it gets mounted to the front of the frame.

Good choice on Grandma. Sturgis will always be there next year.

I never knew what that ugly thing did. The only thing that sucks about a single down tube is I lose the rectifier cover I made...
You can barley see it in this pic. Oh well I'd rather have the single tube! WOO! I'm sending my baby away to get cut! It'll be a TRUE chopper then!
Little better here!

Well, make sure you get some good pics before you chop it. Need good before pics, and that is a nice looking ride as is.

You have a real consistent theme, and you have kept it nose to tail.

Good chatting with you RIP. If you have time when you come out, lets see if we can grab some coffee or something and talk a little about your project

If you want to document it, let me know. It would be great to get some of that (including progress pics) into the gallery.

Sounds good Gram and I'm sending you a PM. I'll have to see about using a camera from maybe my sister in law, my daughter just broke ours the other day.
