There was no need to touch the jetting for just pipes and the stock airbox. So the guy was sorta right. Don't know what jet he had to put a washer under You didn't say what year bike you have so:

99-03: Stock main is a 165 Mikuni
04-07: 182.5 Mikuni
On all years the stock needle only has one groove. The stock pilot jet is a Mikuni 35 on all years. The PMs should be set at 2 1/2 to 3 turns out for starters. So you need to go into the carb and see what you have for jets and a needle. You also have to be triple sure you don't have any exhaust leaks where the slipons connect to the header pipes. Slipons are known for leaking there. Unless you have been running it so lean you burnt something up you won't hurt anything with jetting. Click on the "Tech Articles" tab at the top of the page and read through the articles in the carb section. That will give you good info on what is involved with step by steps and pictures.

their initial response was baffles in no jet, baffles out have to rejet...my bike is an 07...but that all depended on which tech I talked to...as far as exhaust leaks would i be able to feel that with hand when the bike is running?

If you can't find someone close to you to straighten it out, And can get it down here, I'd be happy to give you a hand. BB

Re:Don't use RT's Cycle in Fort Oglethorpe GA 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
know exactly where you are...my wife is from douglasville... here is my adventures for teh day...teh dealer told me that he put all the jets back to stock and put a washer somewhere to give it a little more because the next the cobra kit was too much...i broke it all the way down today looking for a washer to remove...does anyone know how many washers are suppossed to be on teh factory needle? when i got the needle out it had 2 washers the plastic cylinder a clip and another washer...i took one of them off where the two was together.... i also checked the PMS it was at 2 1/2 and i backed it off to 2 1/4....didn't ride it a whole lot but it seemed to be a little better...i live on steep hill and when going down hill giving it no gas it did pop and crack a little...any other suggestions?

when i got the needle out it had 2 washers the plastic cylinder a clip and another washer..

It sounds like you are saying (from the blunt end ) you had whites spacer, 2 washers, the clip, and a washer under it. Or were you describing it from the pointed end? The stock set up from the blunt end is washer, clip, spacer, washer. So you have the stock main jet and pilot in there? Try setting the PMS at 3 once and tweak from there.
