The left side cover is attach to the bike (2005) with a ten millimeter bolt under the front of the seat. There is a metal clip that is attached to the cover that houses the threads for the screw. Last night while completing my fuel pump relocation, I hear the sound of it falling of the side cover and into the bike below. Tried fishing around with a magnet, but I cannot find it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What worked for me is that on the way to get another part it fell out on the ride. I've lost a few parts in the area and either they became wedged in or fell into nether regions.  Sometimes they fall to accessible areas, sometimes they fall on the road. Other than that if it isn't wedged and you can see it a coat hanger wire bent into a small hook coupled with a lot of patience may work. MHO.

Get the wife out there to look for it.  I did the same thing and looked for over an hour. My wife saw it in 5 minutes - then used long pliers to pick it out. Use a bright light and don't give up it's there somewhere.

look directly below that are on the bike two wires should run down there a magnet wond work until you free ti because its wedged take off the other side cover to get a better look...... |

I lost mine first time I took the cover off and never found it. I put a plastic screw anchor in the hole and cut it off short and it works perfect. The plastic screw anchor stays in place when I remove the side covers so I never loose it and if I need to replace it, it's a cheap easy fix.

Lost mine Months ago. Rolled the bike up and down the driveway.....nothing. Replaced it forever ago and never looked back. BB
