Any of you fellas in AL or GA know of a good pinstripe artist to do some stripes on my bike ? Usually you will see these cats at bike events and such but I'd like get some work done soon. Nothin' special just a few stripes on my tank side panels and fenders, maybe side covers.

This seems to be a dying art form, I looked into it myself, I bought a couple of books, and did some research. I didn't follow up on it because it seemed to be somewhat out of style these days. To me there is nothing cooler than a semi-gloss black bobber with crazy freehand pinstriping and tall apehangers.

I know a guy, Mark Phenio (SP?) he lives about 20 miles from here which is in north georgia, he only does the free hand so it might be what you are looking for. He usually does the rallies wears a doctors coat and a top hat and pulls a red wagon with his supplies. His health was going down hill at one point but last I talked to him he was still doing bikes, just not doing rallies.

It's not that hard to do yourself ... you just need a little practice to get it done right.

I did a lot in the past and of course to lay out the graphics for when I paint I stripe it first.

Give it a go. You can pick up some cheap stuff at the auto store and see if you can do it.

Hey Doc
You have to have a steady hand. I use to do graphic art by brush on vehicles & business windows.I also used an airbrush for some of my work. I also did tattoo's. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with non-essential benign tremors! My hands now shake!! Lucky for me it's only in my hands. There are some people that get it where it makes their head bounce around. It sucks not being able to draw a straight line anymore and a steady hand is essential for pin stripe work!
If I drink coffee with caffeine look out, I'm like a person going through de-tox.
On the bright side there are times when my wife doesn't mind the shaking hands LMAO

That sucks man. My younger daughter has shaky hand ... not much but I notice it when shes' holding a fork at the dinner table.

Luckily my hands are OK .... my problems lie elsewhere.

The key to good pinstriping is good brushes, I tied up a bunch of money in brushes thinking I would be the next big thing in the pin stripe world.... I quickly learned there no one has enough money to pay ME what its worth, so I put it all aside until I change my mind.

At least we have an excuse!!!

Doc my mother has it so bad she got to were she could not hold a cup to drink nor could she write any longer. She went to a doctor at age 81 and they implanted a device in her upper chest and then wires that run up her neck into her brain. When she gets up in the morning her hands shake severly, she takes this gizmo and puts it to her chest hits a button and her right hand goes compeletly steady. Now they only did it for her right hand as that was her dominant hand. It is so cool cause she can write her name and pick up a hot cup of coffee and drink again. The down side is stay away from microwaves and airport metal detectors and some other stuff but she says at her age she don't care cause she don't go many places anyway so it was worth it. I just hope that mine does not progress to that point. You may not want to use the urinal right next to me unless I don't hold it! LMAO!!!
