Turn Signals for Cars 4 Years, 1 Month ago
Why do they make turn signals for cars?
  • It seems that no one wants to use them, at least here in SoCal. I've kind of gotten used to it, but this morning I'm cruising into work and this guy cuts in front of me with no turn signal . It's not like there was no room for him, but I did have to brake to get some space in front of me. So I just shake my head and keep going, well apparently he saw me shake my head and he proceeds to flip me off . All I can think is if he would have just used his turn signal, I would have backed off, I mean I wan't even going the speed limit, I'm trying to get the most mileage I can and running with the big rigs, which is slow out here, 60-65 mph.
  • I always signal in one form or another. If I don't use the turn signal, I use my hand signal, or sometimes I use both hand and turn signals. I guess I just needed to vent a little, but also with the riding season opening up around the country, a word of warning out there, watch out for the cagers in a hurry to go no particular place, except in front of you.

I followed one of those brave cagers who cut me off and then flipped me off. When he pulled in to a parking lot I parked right next to him but the tough guy wouldn't unlock his door. In retrospect it wasn't worth my time to follow him. But it was kinda fun watching him cower in his car.

I just get away from them as soon as convenient. I will not allow an ingnorant maneuver or gesture to ruin my pleasant riding experience.

It didn't take long for him to be away from me. He was in too much of a hurry for the slow lane. I didn't even get mad, I just shook my head because I was thinking, If only he'd use the signal. I do like the fact that after all this, traffic stopped and I cruised past him between the cars. I love that about riding in Cali.

I have to admit, lane-splitting in CA seems wacky to me; extremely dangerous. I am sure it has its benefits, but I don't know if I could get used to that. Don't mean to hijack a post.

I think that those that don't use their turn signals are not only too lazy to use their signals, but most of the time I think they refuse to use the signal because they are deliberately trying to show everyone else that they have no respect for other drivers on the road. They think that they are better than everyone else, and they are the "elite and special" ones that don't have to lift their arm to signal and let other drivers know their intentions to change lanes.
For some people (control freaks), "CONTROL" is a big thing psychologically, it's all a big game to them. They think that as long as they haven't shown you their intentions to switch lanes or turn in front of you, they have you at their mercy and under their control as long as they keep you wondering.

Some people are just plain to lazy to use their turn signals, and others are a little messed up in the head!! Kinda hard to beleive it, huh?
(I have a friend that works in a psych ward.... she says there ain't any bikers in there! )

I don't know why they made them. Some dang near side swiped me today!

I was in the far right lane, and she was in the middle lane. Then without warning she decided she needing to get into the driveway to the store that I happened to be passing at the time. She brushed my leg as I sped up to get out of her way. Some jerk in an F150 was on my a$$ and would have run me over if I had tried to stop. They almost hit the lady too. It was a scary day for me.

My story too. On the way to work this morning I'm passing a Mustang on the left when the little b.. uhhh young lady that was driving it while talking on her cell phone decides to pass the car in front of her. Luckily I always pass in the left side of the lane so I had time to back off and let her go. She never knew I was there till she saw me in her rearview. From her reaction I think she can read lips in mirror image. Oh, and of course no signals.

No courtesy on the road anymore. I think the turnsignal problem is everywhere today. To many gagets in cars.

Too many cell phones in cars. They WILL NOT take that phone off their ear to hit the signal. And they can either concentrate on their driving or their phone conversation. Being on the phone 24 /7 is at the top of their priority list.
