Ok, here's where I'm at. Called Yamaha motors and theres now way to get the key code if the dealer doesn't have it. It is not located on the ignition anywhere according to them and hasn't been for many years.

After calling three or four locksmiths, and being told that they either couldn't do it, didn't mess with motorcycles, or that I would have to remove the ignition and leave it for a couple of days, I reached a fellow named Steve with "Master tech lock key and safe" in Texarkana, Tx who's first question was "what kind of bike?". I told him a roadstar and he said "sure, no problem". I turns out that it's only going to cost $95 bucks and I don't have to remove the ignition which would mean buying some special security torx wrenches.

The moral of this story is to make sure you don't put off getting an extra key or two made if you only have one. Also, if you still have the little metal tab with the key code on it, write it down and put it in a safe place. Once I get it, I'm going to write it down on the inside of my side plate cover. That way I'm twenty bucks away from a key no matter where I'm at and the code is always available.
