There are law offices that specialize in motorcycle accidents. They advertise in Motorcycle magazines.

Document everything you can. Pictures, statements by responding officers and medical people, witnesses. ETC.

Good Luck.

Geez, there is so much that can go wrong on a bike. If it wasn't so d**m much fun.............................

Sorry to hear another horror story about a biker.I wish your friend the best in his recovery. Two weeks ago my friend Cary had a guy pull out in front of him at 55mph and he t-boned him on his ultra classic. It was only by the grace of god that he is still alive. His right legg was shoved up into his chest. It puntured his lung and ripped out the main artery in his legg. There was an ambulance just 600 feet away for the stock car races. If they had not been there he would have died as he would have bleed to death with that main artery being torn. There not sure how well Cary will walk again and they even hinted he may never ride again. But Cary has said " you want to bet I won't ride again!". He was moved to a rehab center just after two weeks which is a good sign. He had 3 breaks in his back, puntured lung, his legg had so many breaks they have a halo from his ankle to his hip with rods holding everything together.
So as a reminder to all "BE CAREFULL AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT YOUR INVISABLE ON A MOTORCYLE.

Hope your friend heals fast. speaking of setting up a ride to help pay for some of his medical bills and such. this is one of the things I love about riding. we may argue, yell at each other and really appear to not get along at times. but let just one of us run up on some hard times and see how many come to the rescue. Stick by your friend, you're doing the right thing.

Re:A buddy goes down 4 Years, 1 Month ago
Thanks guys, I just went and paid to get his bike out of the wrecker yard, its the first time I have really been able to inspect it, Its bad. I am going to see what can be salvaged and what it will take to get it back going, the fram looks straigh, a fried of mine who owns a shop said he check the fram on the jig to see if its out anywhere, then we'll go from there.

Thats the best thing about bikers (real bikers / not weekend posers) when ever there is a need to raise money for ANYTHING, the true bike community steps up and hits a home run. Hopeing far the same results here. We raised $4000.00 a couple weeks ago in the rain for a guy who had an accident in february.

If you were closer to me I'd love to go on a run to help him out. When you say "bad" HOW bad? And what year is the bike?

Re:A buddy goes down 4 Years, 1 Month ago
Bad meaning its going to cost him a couple grand, but not a total loss, going to need..... Tank, fenders, crash bars, dast & speedo, bars, controls, grips, headlight, fork covers, tail light, rear signals, rear rack and sissy bar, windshield.... and thats just what we know so far. I was on the phone with v-twin yesterday afternoon for a while comprising a parts order so we'll see what they say when they get back to me with a total.

We have had 2 or 3 people with roadkings donat some stock equipment that they had taken off their bikes to replace with aftermarket so in the end we just might get this thing done without spending a fortune.

The bike is a 1997 Road King Classic.

Re:A buddy goes down 4 Years, 1 Month ago
If we do something it will likely be mid may or so, give him time to see what his DR bills are going to be and get an idea of what we can shoot for. I'm going to donate the custom paint job he always wanted before the accident, I have just found out I have a free rear fender coming, and I have another guy who says if he has a front fender he will give it, on guy is giving all the stock lights etc for the rear of the bike, so at this point getting the bike back running is not an issue, it turns over but the batter is really weak, the switch was on for a while after the wreck.

My bike is off the road for a few days as well while I get the 18" ape hangers and cables installed, and I have chrome controls, mast cyl. cover & clutch perch cover coming tomorrow along with severla peices for the motor area, so I'll be working on my bike through the weekend. But i will keep you posted on what we get planned and when.
