I'm pretty sure this may have been covered at least once so humor an old phart. Coming home from work I slowed down for a red light and momentarily took my hands off the bars. Within a split second the front end/wheel started to shimmy a bit. Nothing dramatic but I didn't know if it would get worse so I grabbed the bars. Jacked it up today and checked for looseness on wheel. Nope. Took handlebars and shook for steering looseness. None. Wheel isn't out of round in any way as I put a homemade gauge on it. The only possibilities left are the wheel needs re-balancing, I hit a spot in the pavement coinciding with my hands off that threw it off balance or I got a gremlin for which I bought a "Heroes" bell. I'll have to try and repeat the scenario when the rain clears area (next week).

PS Found another link and read that. Checked air pressure it's good to go @ 40.

Check to see if your front tire is cupping. May be time for a new tire.

I bet you hit something in the road that started it to shimmy.. like you said, probably need to try it a few more times just to be sure..

Yes, there has been some prior discussion about a low-speed wobble with the hands off the bars.

(Maybe it's a safety feature to keep riders from riding hands-free. )

Here's one of the previous threads:

There is also the 'loose nut behind the wheel' theory. Mr.Breeze. Not loose. I've been contained many times and rather easily I hate to admit.
Getting some Cobra bars from Hardone2get shortly so I'm gonna leave it on the stand and go over a few things. Ordinarily I never let go of the bars and seldom do both hands leave. But this one time, just shaking some feeling into my right hand, produced this thread. Maybe I should center the Gremlin bell? Thanks for the input everyone!

I've only been riding my own bike about 5 years and it has always done the no hands wobble at certain speeds.
But I can hold one grip with just thumb and forefinger and no problems, so I always hold on.
My buddy has been riding all his life, when we meet a bike with Apes on, he hits the throttle lock and sticks both hands in the air. He can go 'til his arms get tired on his Intruder or Goldwing.
I like riding behind him
