Torqueing the valves 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Guy I met this weekend had a 1600 also and said I'm gonna need the valves re-torqued at 17,000 miles. Is that a given for the 99 to 03's or is is dependent on level of riding? Don't think he'd yank my chain as he's a chaplain with the local CMA.

My advice has always been to adjust the valves when they 'tell' you to. If you are listening to your motor you will know when.

But if you're nervous, then certainly break it open and check them out.

I have a 1600.

That's a pretty crappy pic .... not 'cause you're in it .... 'cause it's fuzzy.

If you want, send me a good clear pic and I'll resize it for you ... unless the original looks like that.

Like Doc says...your engine will tell ya. I just had mine done last weekend, I could hear a certain kinda louder tick in the front cylinder, and a small popping out of the exhaust at the exact same time. Figured it wouldnt hurt to get it done. I have an 04' 1700 with 17k...Yami guesses pretty good on the milage to check em'. But since it was done, it runs MUCH better. I know guys who have 25k and 32k on thiers and they havent touched them yet. Luck of the draw.
