I dont consider my a wanna - be..lol. I just like the looks of the Crossbones. I'm not a "racer". I can keep up with anyone I ride with, that the reason I went to the roadie from the Shadow. Just wanted something bigger with more low end. I am not wanting start an HD bashing thread, far from it. I like all bikes and just wondered how everyone else felt. I spend some time on the HD forums also, so i read about the problems and opinions there. I think most problems are universal. but I do appreciate all the input and keep it coming.

I probably shouldn't have said "wanna-be" but we all know that a whole bunch of the guys riding HD are that, the whole bad boy image goes with an HD not a Yamaha in most people's minds. Right?
I've owned HD's, built choppers out of them and really enjoy some of them.
I just insist on value over image.
So if I offended anyone I apoligize, not the intent.

I'd like to get an old flat-head someday. No secret though, just a money thing.

If I wanted something to leak oil in my garage I'd just get an old Chevy Corvair. That'd do it.

Not realy. My Roadie fits me just fine. I've had three HDs and enjoyed them, but for power and reliability, they were no RoadStar. I like the heritage softails or Fatboys with all the chrome they are good looking but cost to much. If something were to happen to my Roadie I would probably look for one .

No secrets here, I want a HD Street Glide.

Are HD's better bikes ? No.

Are they cooler bikes ? No.

Is their more aftermarket stuff available for HD's than R*? Questionable.

But one thing I havn't read, maybe someone said it and I missed it, is that R*'s IMHO are the closest metric relative to a HD Heritage Classic or FatBoy. So it's it bit strange to see guys say they will ride a R* but never a HD. If I truly hated HD's I wouldn't ride a R* because it's so often mistaken for a HD. Just my $.02 on that subject.

And I agree with several of the post I just read under this thread, I have owned a 1995 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100, a 1999 Suzuki LC 1500 and now my 2001 R* in the past 10 years. I truly enjoyed all 3 bikes. I also owned Kawasaki dirt bikes back in my teen years. So I too have owned the major metric brands, but I have never owned a Harley.

At some point I gotta get it out of my system, but for now I'm loving my Road Star, it's a great bike.

I'm with Frankie all the way. HD Street Glide would be my choice.

My type of riding has switched over from purely pleasure to everyday commuting due to gas prices. After recently riding a Street Glide, I realized it would be a much more comfortable bike for commuting on. Just dig the looks of it too.
