I've thought about the Maxflo kit, but I bought my bike wuth the Pro-R hypercharger and it just looks so damn cool! I wouldn't hesitate one second to buy something from Maxair. I bought quite a few things for my V-Star 1100 from them. EXCELLENT PRODUCTS AND EXCELLENT SUPPORT!!! Their directions are nearly idiot proof. Believe me... I tested them.
By the way, if you have a V-Star 1100, their is NOTHING else to consider for intake, other than Maxair's Predator Pro kit.

I don't mean to sound rude and I'm truly not trying to be but I guess there isn't an easier way to put it...I would like to put a Dyna module on it because I feel there is value to it. From what I understand it raises the rpm on the rev limiter and allows some degree of fine tuning. Why wouldn't I need it? Maybe you can enlighten me?

The ported manifold may not affect the jetting at all. Once you have done the initial re-jet, Maxair would recommend that you not change anything and let the Road* tell you if it needs anything. The standard Maxair jetting very well may work for you.
Personally, I don't like to change several related things at once because it makes trouble-shooting much more difficult - and frustrating.[/quote]
I would highly recommend the Dyna John. Its one of the most popular aftermarket accessories folks use here at the clinic. Just use the manufacturers recommended settings for a stock bike and you will eliminate 06's concerns about doing too many things at once almost completely.
Once you have your jetting dialed in, you can play around a little with the different settings the Dyna provides to see what you can get out of it.
Just be sure to cut an access hole in your battery box so you can get to it real easily.

They be sold out folks, for the R* anyway. Thought I'd check for the heck of it. They hope to have more by mid-summer.

"From what I understand" sounds impulsive, like you haven't really thought this through. True? Let me help.
If you're running an OEM engine with OEM carburetor, and you don't mind a 4750 RPM limitation, then the stock Road Star ignition module does an adequate job of controlling plug timing and motor rev limitations.
If you plan to install a flatslide carburetor or some other aftermarket carburetor, increase your operable RPM range or install high compression pistons or a big-bore kit, then you'd have good reason to move up to a Dyna 3000 or other direct replacement ignition module.
Frankly, you can make the Road* "scary quick" by installing an aftermarket airkit, ported manifold and a good set of pipes. Don't kid yourself. 4750 RPMs is not too shabby. If you've never been there, then I suggest that you try it.
On the other hand, it's your money and your bike, so do as you wish...
Good luck!

If you're truly interested, give Maxair a call or send them an email. The "out-of-stock" note on the web-site may not have been removed from whe they WERE out of stock.
Great purchase, if you decide to go that route...

Why is it impulsive? He studied it and it sounds good to him. Are you speaking from experience on the Dyna? Have you installed a 3000 on your bike and decided to go back to stock? If so why did you go back?

John I agree with Gram....The Dyna is the best bang for my buck that I have gotten with my Roadie Mods .I did not realize how much smoother she would run and how much quicker she would jump up when requested till I bought one ...and I dont sell them and I do not know the owner ...Coug

Well as long as were expressing our opinions, I have one..the maxair may be a good free flowing air filter, but I just can't stand the way it looks..kinda like a stainless steel easter basket tacked to the engine...

Geez. Has the RSP forum disease permeated the RSC forum, too? Everybody else seems to be sharing their thoughts. I just thought I'd share mine. Is that going to be a problem here, too?
I'm not saying the guy is right or wrong. I'm just giving him some food for thought from my perspective. He's a big boy. He can make up his own mind.
Now, I sense that same "feeding frenzy" that I did over on RSP. Everybody has to get their digs in on Maxair because the owner happens to be a friend of mine.
