If that is all they weight, not too bad but what about wind resistance.
But really I think more likely the PMS is rich that is what I kept turning in a little at a time to bring the mpg in line, and lean out the lower end of the rpm range.. my bike being white I see the signs of carbon instantly on the rear fender.

At first I thought maybe wind resistance also, but I bet H12g has actually has less resistance than I do.. the fairing should act like those big dome thingys on the semis...

Hey Guys, happened to see the thread. I also have 05R*. Just made a highway run for about 180 miles. I was crusing about 70-75, sometimes about 80 when passing and averaged 40.5 mpg. I have the stock carb set up and stock intake but am running hk 3", did have a little head wind. Any suggestions to get a little more mpg. What (in the ball park) should my pms be set at? Any help would be appreciated.

Well for a week now I've been jetting and tweaking a few different ways just to see what I can get for power and mileage.

Well done.

I need to know is there a difference in the needles?

Yes there are but they can all be jetted similar with the right combinations.

I'm running the baron's kit with a 165 main , 35 pilot 3rd notch on the needle. I get 37-38 mpg.

There is something else goint on. As previous posters said, could the the fairing. Could also be worn jet, high float level, choke engaged (even when pushed in), etc.

You should not be able to ..

.... the fact that I never use the choke(enrichner) knob. I just hit the starter and she runs.Even when she has sat all night I never use the choke.

I'd probably check out the choke .... make sure the plunger is seating in the bore and try the choke knob fix.

Also check for high float level.

Thanks Doc...I learned from the Guru's.
Also.... I do get my 45 and better out of it when I keep my wrist out of it. The days I tested the new setup, I kinda ran with a couple rockets and alot of town driving. The best way to get the milage up I found out is to install the wife onto the back of the bike. After a couple swat's to the head your milage goes way up!

Just gets better... Been ridin' all weekend with the wife. Even with her on the back..(and not slappin' me this time)... Did more interstate driving this time @ an average of 70 mph. Also a slower poker run yesterday..all said and done, 48.2 m.p.g. I even opened the pms 1/2 turn more, I thought that would lower my mileage a little. Oh well, as long as it doesnt go down I'm happy.
