My chopper build 3 Months, 1 Week ago

As some of you know I am chopping my Road Star. I have the springer front end all ready, I have all the parts for the new tank and other various components. I'll be putting it in the shop in less then a week where the back bone will be stretched 6in, a Harley neck will go on, and it will be converted to a single down tube frame. This is the thread I will be posting all of my progress. Pics will soon follow, give me a day or two and I'll have something nice to look at. Parts at least.  |

I don't know if I can watch this. They're such nice bikes from the dealership, I hate to see them cut to pieces, but I like the look when streched and customized. I just don't know if I can handle watching the whole process. Best of luck.

We've spoken a few times about the chopper thing. I had a Raked Triple Tree installed on my bike. Making turns is very interesting. I'm still kicking the idea of a new front end.
But, I have a custom guy that's going to do a stretched tank for me. It'll be in a shape of a tear drop. The problem with stretching the tank is, your seat is not going to fit. I currently have a solo seat on the bike. How do you go about finding a seat that will fit with the stretched tank? Sorry about hijacking your thread.

I have a friend the has a custom seat shop. That's EASY!

Well for the rest of us peasants that aren't as lucky, how do we decide prior to the stretching of the tank the size of the new seat? Or is that even possible?

I'm a peasant too! LOL Only I can budget and save. The seat won't go on until everything else does, no way to measure stuff that doesn't exist yet cause I haven't made it. The tank is 25in long which is a 5in stretch, and the backbone is going out about 6in to make up for the tank. I'm not going to loose any part of my seat due to the tank.
When you do this, you don't stretch the frame and make a tank fit, get the tank you want, (as it decides the look of the bike) and make the frame fit. It's the best way imho.
