Front Brakes 5 Years, 9 Months ago
I see some people have removed one side of their front brakes (on the exhaust side) to create a cleaner look and show off rim. Any advice? Is it safe? Does the other side need to be beefed up? Are there kits? Do I need spacers? Any body know or have they done it? Thanks!

If you have the 1600 then removal of one brake will seriously decrease you braking power. It was unacceptable to me.

The 1600 only has the 2 piston caliper.

I then went to a 4 piston R1 and found I was able to recover some of the lost braking power. The addition of an R1 floating rotor help more.

The greatest benefit to recovering all of the braking power, compared to a dual setup, was installing a Warrior front master cylinder.

For the 1700 you can remove one side and not get a dramatic reduction as it has the 4 piston and semi-floating rotor but I'd put on a Warrior MC.

Stainless steel brake lines are also a given as the stock rubber one flex too much.

For two upriding, especially in hill country, I'd think twice about removing one side.
