Bite the bullet and get one. Really. It's a great kit. I'm not saying that because I'm a personal friend of the owner, either. I own one. I believe in the product.
If you wait until next time, you may be waiting a LONG time, perhaps as long as those of us who have been waiting for a Nemesis manifold!

Excellent choice! Do yourself a HUGE favor and familiarize yourself with the MaxFlo installation instructions by downloading them from the Maxair web-site. Be sure to download the float level adjustment instructions for the Road*, too, because those instructions are not included in the MaxFlo instructions and they are critical to optimal performance. Follow both sets of instructions to the letter and you'll have no problem.
You are going to love it. Trust me.
If you need any help, please give me a holler.

Of all the air cleaners I've looked at, I like the MaxFlo look the best. Those who have it rave about the performance. But alas, my issue with buying one is two-fold: 1) That's money that, for now, can best be spent elsewhere and 2) I'm still really hesitant to start playing with jetting with all the posts about jetting problems and the possibility I can set myself up for SVS to boot. The bike runs well and looks very nice as is. I'm not a performance kind of guy anyway, so performance would be a secondary reason for me to slap on the MaxFlo. I just think it looks slick as all get-out.

Regarding point 1), that's a personal decision. We all have and must honor our priorities. It's not arguable, IMHO.
Regarding point 2), most "jetting problems" are self-induced. If you follow the Maxair instructions TO THE LETTER, you will not have any problems. Don't trust this install to a dealer. If I can do this, YOU can do this!
Don't fool yourself. You probably ARE a performance guy and don't know it. Don't you want your Road* to run at peak efficiency? It's common knowledge that the Road* air filter is very restrictive. Air, as you may know, is one of the three legs of the combustion triangle, and is a key ingredient for an efficently burning motor. Opening up the air passage creates more "disturbance" at the intake, thereby allowing more efficient atomization of fuel as it leaves the carburetor.
You are probably making yourself more susceptible to the dreaded SVS by doing nothing, than by installing an aftermarket airkit and rejetting.
For this installation, "looks" is a fringe benefit of enhanced performance, not a reason in and of itself. If you change the airkit, you MUST rejet. You can't simply slap on the airkit just because it looks good.
Anyway, I'm not trying to convince you to do one thing or the other; I'm just trying to provide you some basic information so that you can make an informed decision.
Good luck!

Thanks! I'll probably be sitting on it for a bit, I'd like to do the manifold and a dnya module (neither of which I've purchased yet) at the same time. I imagine at that point, the jetting will be off from what Maxiar recommends? I'll probably get it dyno-tuned anyhow.

I don't understand the need for a dyna module on a 2007 Road*. Enlighten me.
The ported manifold may not affect the jetting at all. Once you have done the initial re-jet, Maxair would recommend that you not change anything and let the Road* tell you if it needs anything. The standard Maxair jetting very well may work for you.
Personally, I don't like to change several related things at once because it makes trouble-shooting much more difficult - and frustrating.

I don't mean to sound rude and I'm truly not trying to be but I guess there isn't an easier way to put it...I would like to put a Dyna module on it because I feel there is value to it. From what I understand it raises the rpm on the rev limiter and allows some degree of fine tuning. Why wouldn't I need it? Maybe you can enlighten me?
