Just got to say this. The Road star was not the most futuristic design Yamaha has came out with. That new V Max looks and probably is smoother and more powerful and more technically advanced than our Road Stars. But this much I know from my point of view. I love my Roadie for its simplicity, Its vibrations , its yesteryear ride and for me this bike is the cats meow. I love the cruise, the sound, the ride and overall feeling I get when I'm riding this bike. Go faster, smoother or quicker would not replace the enjoyment I get from riding my Star.

Hey VegasDave,
I read your post a couple of months ago and I decided to take you up on your request for others to try Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant. I did this because I hate the "tinking" sound I get when my bike is really hot. Sounds like a bunch of metal washers tinking around in my top end.
Well, first tank...my friend asked if I heard any difference. I said no, none at all. (1.5 oz for 5 gallons)
Second tank, I put in (3 oz for 5 gallons). Holly Cow, I really honestly heard a difference. The motor is remarkably quieter now. It's not in my head, this really worked. Took about 2 complete tanks to notice the difference.
Thanks for the "heads - up" VegasDave. I'm going to continue to use this product. I'll report back if anything changes.
Jeff

I've been using MMO with some success. I will give the Lucas treatment a try. The next step I am considering is to do a complete top end on the motor. I am the third owner on my 04 and when I bought it in March it had 6500 miles on it. It wasnt ridin' very much, not until I bought it anyway. On occasion I will take it to the Rev limiter in an attempt to dislodge anything that might be sticking.
