Passenger Floorboards 3 Years, 12 Months ago
|
|
|
Hello Guys. Hope everyone has got a few good rides under their belt so far. I need some feedback on passenger floorboards for my 04 silverado with stock pipes. Read some reviews and it looks like barons adjustable passenger floorboards might be the way to go. My wife is 5'4" tall and the stock peg location is killing her legs on longer trips. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Vick.

Good choice to go with boards over pegs... My misses said, "it's like standing on the floor after being on a perch all day", after I swapped mine out... Your choices are only limited by your budget... (or lack thereof...) Although I didn't buy them, I like the Yami billet passenger boards because they have the star logo on the bottom and when they're up there's that much more chrome... But that's just me... Geeze, I feel like a contestant on Wheel of Fortune... "Hi, my name is Bambi and I like bright shiny things...!"

My wife(a brunette) asked me once what the deal was with guys going after blondes. She said "put a blonde wig on a pile of dog shit and some dude will hit on it". My reply was "men are like largemouth bass, something shiny passes by and we'll chase it regardless what the hell it looks like". I thought about the yamis for the same reasons you mentioned. My objective is to get them as low and far ahead as possible. As far as budget goes these things are way inflated but what bike accessories aren't right. I built a driver backrest for myself for the same reason. I couldn't find one I liked for under $350. Her comfort takes presidence over price for sure. Buy the way, which set did you go with? Thanks for the input bro. Have a great summer.

I have the yami ones. Will be upgrading to the billet ones soon. Wife does like them; more comfy and more stability getting on and off she says.

I've got the yami billet floorboards and love them, I bought them used from a guy here on the clinic for $50 plus shipping with mounts. Depending on the exhaust you have you can turn the brackets and swap the boards over to ride lower just like the peg flip but you need spacers behind the brackets. The only thing I don't like about the yamis is the rubber pads are cheaply glued onto the boards, the previous owner had the pads to start comming loose on him and he lost a couple of the pads, I have yet to get more pads on mine but the wife is happier with the boards, and yes they look great with the shinny stuff!!! If I didn't buy these used I would have gotten the Baron's adjustable boards, they too have alot of chrome on them!

Sorry VickK... Went out to for a ride and cleaned off the scoot... I have the Yami standard issue floor boards... when their up they are brushed aluminum with two rubber (black) stripes showing outward... That's why I like the billet... Shiney! As far as getting them forward, you're not going to be able to do much until you get a lower set of pipes and forward will need a bracket... A word of caution about moving them forward though... It will reduce your leg travel to keep the bike steady at a stop... (They'll catch you right at the calf!) Oh, and all floorboard require the mounting bracket... to secure them to the frame... (No one sells the boards and bracket as one piece...)

I purchased some from JC Whitney for under $50. Look just as good and they were easy to install. My lady is happy and can ride many more miles in comfort.

VickK,
I have the Barons...not sure if they are adjustable. My wife is taller 5'9" with longer legs and doesn't complain about comfort...she absolutely loves going on rides. Truthfully I haven't given much thought to the issue...I'm bad. I'll check to see if mine are adjustable.
