New Bag Protectors - Opinions Please 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I had negotiated for rear crash bars on my deal, which were out of stock. So, I was expecting single "U" shaped bars in front of the saddle bags. I took the bike in to have them installed but never saw them in advance.

I was surprised when the bike rolled out of the shop with this style bag protectors installed.

Then, I thought they looked pretty good, but maybe a bit "too" much? They are good quality Yamaha parts. You could also hang a storage pouch in the front of each bar.
I'm teetering on it...

What do you think of the new look?

I like the bars in general, but think they'd look better on a a bike with hard bags.

They sort of hide the detail of the leather bags and since the bags are smaller the guards seem to swallow 'em up.

Gotta agree a bit with Mark7. The rails tend to over-shadow the bags. OMG, now I sound like a "fashion consultant"! What really matters is what you think.

The bikes are very personal, options are added to our own taste nothing is wrong if you like it . Thats why there is more than one flavor of Ice Cream. Life would be boring if everyone was vanilla.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll leave them on there. Heck, I could attach squirrel tails (which I actually saw on a R* today) and all kinds a stuff on 'em.

Nice lawn ...

Oh ya ... the chrome bits.

I like them but felt something was just not quite right as I was checking out the photos. As I was reading through the replies ... maybe Mark hit it right on ... they would look much better with hard bags.

But to echo ... it you like them then keep them.

Hey Ken,

Those are the Guards and Trim Rails for the Roadliner/Stratoliner.

Found here: Saddlebag Guard.

and here: Saddlebag Trim Rails.

Now I'm wondering if these actually WOULD fit the Road Star hard bags without modification? Ken, is the chromed grab-bar-looking-thing on either side of the passenger seat part of the saddlebag mount or part of the trim?

I like em..

I am not a fan of hard bags...having had them for years...

I have hung tool pouches on the front of my guards....

The leather saddle bag look or the hard bag look a personal preference..but the rails look nice...
