WD-40 will also degrease a chain to bone dry.... THANK GOD there is no need for that on a R*..... also can be used as starter fluid but only if nothing else is around.

If you get stuck in the rain and your gloves bleed dye all over your hands, that K&N filter cleaner works pretty well at cleaning them.

Re:Share a secret 3 Years, 11 Months ago
Hey everyone!

I have been doing some of the mods here in the clinic: poor mans BAK, stage 3 stock pipes, AIS removal, moved my fuel pump to the right side and fixed my stretched choke cable.

The one thing most of these have in common is having to re-jet and adjust the carb until you get it right . Of course, in checking how it's running, you constantly check and replace the plugs as they get fouled.

I bought a pheumatic sand blast plug cleaner at Harbor Freight Tools for $9.99 that works great and saved me a bunch of money replacing the plugs just to find out if it was running lean/rich etc. You have to go online to their site and print out the advertised price to take with you or they charge like $16.00 instead . It comes with a small bag of sand, but, I recommend buying an additional supply if your working on your jetting.

Its great at getting the carbon blown off the ceramic so you can see how the bike is running. When you use a wire brush it leaves the ceramic dark and unreadable.

Just my two cents.

Richard.

Terry towel shop rags from the one of those "More-Stuff-Than-You-Need" stores... BJs, Sams, etc...
15 bucks a ton! That makes them nearly disposable...!
I'll use two for an oil change and toss 'em... and, I'll use five at a time to do a detailing, throw 'em in the laundry... use 'em again next time.

The Other thing I've begun using... "Zymol" auto wax... (There's two dots over the "O".)
A dab here and a schmear there... and the whole bike is polished to a super deep shine... Everything! Windshield, chrome, frame, wheels and paint...
(When the sun shines through the speedo glass, you can actually see how deep the coating is!
Mmmm, Shiny!

ratl according to the repair manuel the plugs should not be cleaned with a sandblasting device.it may leave abrasive material on the plug which can enter the cyclinder and cause damage. Just be careful with it.

Thanks for the pointer Greysnake. I blow them out before reinstalling them, but didn't mention it.

I use Simple Green on the White-Walls. I spray it on a scrubbing pad and wipe it off with a wet t-shirt. Also spray Pledge on a clean windscreen and wipe off and bugs don't stick to hard. Capt.Kirk
