I do 6000 on synth. But change the filter at 3000.

You drain the oil, change the filter, then put the same oil back in for the other 3000 miles? NOT being a smarty pants here. But seems like you would just change at 3000 the oil and the filter for all that effort.

No, he changes the filter at 3000, probably puts some make-up oil in the sump (to replace the volume lost in the filter, and then does a full change at 6000 intervals.
