Gas gauge acting up 5 Months ago
|
|
|
Rode to work this morning, Beautiful Carolina morning by the way, Stopped filled up. May have been a little quick on the start up, not sure I let it cycle through the electrical check. Anyway gas gauge stopped working. Little light blinking rode on. This afternoon left work rode about half of the 24 mile ride home and gauge started working again. I have seen problems reported here about gas gauge and was wondering if I'm in need of a new sender or do I just need to wait for the bike to cycle through its checks before start up. How much is this sender going to set me back if I need one.

How many times is the light blinking? You can try disconnecting the battery over night. Sometimes that helps the electrical stuff reset itself.

Didn't count how many times it blinked. Seemed like maybe several then it quit but gauge didn't start back working until later on the ride home. And even though I love the nature of this bike and can figure out when I need gas didn't really want to resort to a tape measure.

I'm having problems also this afternoon my low fuel light came on at what appeared to be 1/4 tank it normaly doesn't come this soon anyway
I thought this can't be right so I continued riding for another 5-6 miles then while sitting at the light she poped and shut down !
I quickly rolled over to reserve and fired her back up and off to the nearest station after filling up my bike never registers full until I have rode about 3-4 miles this means my foat is sticking ? It has done this since it was new. should I have the float replaced before my warranty is gone ? or do these bikes typically have sticky floats ??

Stormin has a better guage than Yami for sure...as much as I see this problem, I think I will just watch my mileage and use my reserve as the gas alarm sorta speak as long as the odometer works....Coug

All Roadies take a few miles to read full after a fill up. It's normal. There's a dampener in there that keeps the needle from bouncing around while you're riding.
